Sadly the overweight person is often mistreated. The world is on fair. Diabetes is cuased by the chemicals in the food not by over eating. The average overweight person was a victim of the FDA ..what passes as food today is criminal

I found your post after hearing about the Kevin Smith incident last weekend. It really is sad that the airlines don't have clear guidelines with regards to when a second seat needs to be purchased.

I just wanted to drop some comment love on you guys and thank you for making a great podcast. I listen to it regularly at my job and it's very entertaining and informative. I did take the time to leave a review through iTunes, I hope it shows up. <br>Steve - if you're looking for books for your ambitious reading list you should check out the "World's Strongest Librarian" blog. If you use some google-fu you should find a list of strength/strongman books he blogged about a while ago. I bet you'd find them interesting and it would make a great tie-in to the show. I hope you liked the ebook by Pavel. I have his "Super Joints" ebook and think it's great. I have a sneaking suspicion the guy might be a geek at heart - he professes a fondness for the classic Pink Panther movies. Anyway I'm rambling now. Keep up the good work!

It's not far off for a WAG. Take a look at any RMR calculator, and you should get your resting calorie usage. It's pretty easy to see when you have the tools at hand to understand how easy it is to pack on the extra pounds.

Crystal here, Steve's bodybugg coach..."I had to giggle when I heard the description of yourself...It made the "waist measurement issue" understandable.<br><br>Forget about what other people think, some people just don't have any compassion or commonsense. You have already come so far, just keep working towards your goal and making better decisions.<br><br>Happy New Year

Yes, but most Western societies treat people of larger stature as a "lifestyle" issue, not a deep-seated issue like belief or a happenstance like an accident that leaves one crippled.

Doesn't work perfectly by any means (there are fat people who exercise and are "responsible" about their health as well as disabled people who got there by being "irresponsible", for example), but by and large the rule of thumb makes sense to our society as a whole.

While this is an uncomfortable situation, I have to disagree with Kris about this being discrimination. They are not denying anyone of plus size the opportunity of flying, but they are trying to mitigate the impact that person would have on the comfort and conditions of other passengers. I'm 6" 205lbs and I can fit some what comfortably into any airline seat. I would say that the vast majority of passengers fall somewhere at or below my height/weight so it would make no sense to adjust the size of every seat and pass that expense onto consumers, when it's probably a fractional percent that will require multiple seats.

It's also a little bit rude to lump someone over weight in the same category as physical disabilities as physical disabilities are rarely self inflicted. And as far as it affecting their profit margins remember it is your decision to fly, not a constitutional right, so what they want to charge for their seats is really irrelevant.

The thing I don't like about this is that the reason anyone flys SouthWest is the value. I don't like that you'd have to carry extra money to pay for a seat. Waiting in the airport all day is fustrating all day.

From what I'm reading on Southwest's policy it looks like you have to a) have extra cash on hand to pay for a second ticket and b) if you want that money back you have to be willing to sit at the airport all day to find a flight that isn't oversold.

Now having flown Southwest nearly exclusively for years I can say that only about 20% or so of the flights have been completely full, although more of them have been lately. So you could pull it off if you absolutely had to.

Steve, I'm so sorry this happened to you. Southwest has had this policy for many years. And a few friends in my BBW circle have experienced it. Fortunately, for me I haven't and is probably one of the reasons I don't fly very often.

Thank you for writing a great article.

Just an FYI, Southwest is not the only airline that has this policy. It can happen to anyone of size at any time when flying.

While airlines, like any other business, are free to set their policies how they will, it is illegal to discriminate against someone based on race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. Size, however, seems to be fair game.

Is it ethical? Is it even necessary? Is Southwest's profit margin so narrow that they have to humiliate and embarrass someone who may not fit in the child-sized seats most of these flights are outfitted with? At 6'5" and just over three hundred pounds, I'm a big guy. I probably couldn't fit in one seat, but I also probably couldn't really fit in one row. Should I have to buy two rows of seats?

I don't see how this is a necessity, considering it's a relatively recent development and plenty of other airlines do without this arbitrary and offensive restriction. It is just another route to increase revenue for the company. It's no great surprise that corner cutting (remember inflight meals?) has escalated to customer gouging.

Even considering the various points that have been raised about customer comfort, etc., it is contingent upon the airlines to ensure the safety and comfort of all of their passengers, regardless of age, weight, size, or the color of their skin.

If the flight was 100% full, with no extra room in first class, no aisle seats available they could shift a larger passenger to, etc., then perhaps Southwest could have done what they do when overbooking other flights—offered a later flight at a discount or an upgrade to first class, etc.

After all, while they may view it as selling seats, what they're really doing is serving customers, no matter their age, stature, size, or any other special need they may have. Imagine if they tried to charge handicapped passengers more for "handling."

To be treated like cargo or cattle is not only dehumanizing, it is unacceptable. I will no longer consider using Southwest for travel until and unless they reverse this ridiculous and unfair policy and make formal apologies (and compensation) to those whom they have offended and hurt by singling out for being "too fat to fly."

As a follow up regarding the cost of the second seat…as long as the flight does not oversell (having more confirmed Customers waiting to board an aircraft than seats on the aircraft), we will refund the cost of the additional seat after travel. A Refund Advice Slip, a guide for conveniently requesting refunds (via telephone or letter), is provided to the Customer at checkin. And, if it appears a flight will oversell, the option to purchase a second seat and travel on a less full flight is also available, thereby guaranteeing that the Customer will be able to obtain a full refund of the second seat.

I've found that it always helps people to better understand a situation when they can personalize the individual going through the experience. I'm glad you shared this.

So given that seats aren't getting any bigger, and I'm guessing that your airline choices are sometimes rather sparse, what do you do? How do you deal with it? I don't find it unreasonable for airlines to set limits on how much personal space they can allocate per ticket, but what do you do and still maintain your job and your ability to travel?

I find the amount of space on planes to be tight to begin with (try flying 10.5 hours to Buenos Aires on a plane configured for domestic service some time... it's great fun.), and I'd love to see even just a LITTLE bit of extra room on a plane, but there's an economic trap here. The seats with enough room are priced at a point where, as you pointed out, your clients won't pay for. When I fly personally, I won't pay for it either. Yet we still demand the $199 fare from coast to coast.

I get that, definitely, and I've actually had to deal with another flyer who sat next to me and thought I was taking up more than my share of the air on the plane. Given how rude he was to me I can only imagine what a Southwest agent would have to deal with after the fact.

This post wasn't meant to be an indictment of Southwest at all - they have customers of all shapes and sizes. You can't please everyone all of the time, right?

Great post, Steve. You really humanized a situation that people tend to turn into a joke--people who don't experience it in their own lives, that is.

I was struck by how what you went through, in being singled out for attention by the airline employee, and having to prove you can use the seat provided, is similar to the experience of disabled people. You try not to call attention to yourself, only to be led to a bulkhead seat, forced to use an elevator, rather than the escalator (no joke), or met at your destination by a wheelchair-driving attendant, when you are perfectly capable of walking unassisted.

Great to see someone from Southwest reading this post. I ave had mostly good experiences with them, other than the wheelchair incident, which was just silly.

Thanks for commenting! They actually have a response to this question on the Southwest FAQ (below).

The problem with this is that while 2 regular priced tickets on Southwest is cheaper than a first class ticket on another airline, my customers don't pay for first class tickets either.

Q: Why not make your seats wider or add a few wide seats on your aircraft?

A: Our ongoing goal is to operate a low-fare, low cost airline, and the costs of reconfiguring our fleet would be staggering and would ultimately reflect in the form of higher fares for our Customers. Purchasing two seats on Southwest Airlines is significantly less expensive than purchasing one first class seat on another airline.

The only thing I did differently on this flight was wear shorts which makes it real obvious that my thighs are where I store most of my weight. Usually I'm wearing black sweats that do the usual slimming thing dark clothing tends to do.

I'm going to offer up a bit of a contrarian view here, and I hope I can get away with it without offending because I know both Steve and Jason.

What about the guy next to the large passenger? And the one behind him? Didn't those people pay for their little block of personal space on the plane, too? Given, the space is tiny and I have trouble with the limited space provided to *me*, even at 5' 9" and 160 lbs., but still...

Have you ever been pinned in next to someone who spills over into your seat? How about sitting behind someone who forces the seat back by six inches or more into your limited space? Is it his fault? No. It's the design of the seats and the passenger compartment, but still....

Ultimately, the airline has to ensure the comfort (ha! that made me laugh...) of as many passengers as possible while filling the plane as full as they can in order to support those discount fares we all demand. To me that means that they have to ensure that the 4-6 people sitting around the larger passenger are not inconvenienced.

It's sad that Steve had to go through such an experience. I know he makes great efforts to keep himself healthy and shrinking when he can, but I don't blame the airline for doing what is right for their passengers. They definitely run a risk of losing someone like Steve as a continued customer, but it's better to potentially offend one man than upset many more in the surrounding area.

I am so sorry this happened to. I used to fly a lot, but have not done so in several years due to being a "Big Geek." I can not imagine how embarrassing and frustrating this must have been. You being some one who travels for a living, I am sure this will change your attitude towards SW for a long time. They could have looked at your travel history and tell that the size check should have not been necessary. I wonder what will be next "Fat Sizers" at the gate, like the "Size Wise" devices used to determine if your cary on bags will fit under the seats.

It is good to see Southwest has their feelers out looking at customer concerns online. GeekFit caters to the geeks with the sedentary lifestyle which typically (and stereotypically) are people of a larger stature. It's interesting to think that a persons "girth" is something that requires additional pricing yet there are restrictions on the weight of luggage a person can bring with them. It's scary to think that some day people may be weighed (like luggage) before boarding instead of measuring their girth (like luggage as well). Penalizing you financially for being overweight is quite concerning and as Steve found out could be quite embarrassing (luckily this wasn't the case with him to an extent).

It's also interesting that the airlines cater to people with other physical disabilities, medical conditions, and even alternate belief systems. Yet larger folks are just charged extra for the volume of space they are consuming in the cabin. Vegetarians are not penalized financially for their health choice (if your flight includes a meal, they offer an alternative non-meat meal at no extra cost). People that require wheelchair access are not charged any additional fees for extra services either.

I'm curious to see how this plays out in the future.

Penalizing you financially for being overweight is quite concerning and as Steve found out could be quite embarrassing (luckily this wasn’t the case with him to an extent).

It’s also interesting that the airlines cater to people with other physical disabilities, medical conditions, and even alternate belief systems.

I’m curious to see how this plays out in the future.

Dear Steven – I am so sorry that you had an unpleasant experience traveling with us. As you are aware, we do provide and charge for seats based on need - whether the space is needed to accommodate a personal item (such as a musical instrument), an infant carrier, a person’s girth, a person’s unique physical characteristics (e.g., Customers who are unable to sit upright and must lay across several seats), etc. While it sounds like our Employee did his best to be polite and discrete when discussing this matter with you, I regret that this was an uncomfortable situation, especially since it was ultimately unnecessary. If you would like to discuss the matter further, please feel free to contact me directly offline. You should have my email address, and I will attempt to contact you via email as well.

This is an airline problem, not a passenger problem, If they were not so money hungry, they would reduce the number of seats offered and remove one seat from each row and make the seats a little larger, even the chairs that you buy at the furniture store are being made wider and deeper Airlines need to wake up and supply what people need. There are more people of large stature than twigs out there.

Hey guys! I'm a horrible listener and I don't think I've ever commented before, so I just wanted to take a minute and let you know I love the show.
I've got it as a recomendation on my blog.
Also, thank you for putting all the twitter names because I listen at work and would never remember to look everyone up.

I am now following the rule of awesome and sharing with others. Its a great idea!
I'm jadielady on gyminee if you want to be gym buddies. 4 lbs down since starting to try to lose weight about 1 month ago.

Hey Molly, thanks for the comment! Good question re: the plastic in the foods. I haven't heard anything about the plastic on the water bottles translating to frozen meals, but it certainly sounds plausible. Did you read this somewhere by chance? Have a link?

Thanks!

Looks good but I keep reading articles about how you shouldn't eat food in plastic. The plastic in microwave is supposed to leach lots of chemicals into the food? I've tried to avoid it but I recently tossed out all the nalgene bottles and platic dishware........something to think about?

Thanks for the comment. Yeah, pasta is a killer for those carbs, no doubt. I try to work those in sparingly, but sometimes you just have to. =)

The keyboard I use is the Kinesis Classic model. You can check them out at http://www.kinesis-ergo.com/classic.htm. I think they're having their annual sale right now, too. I had been typing every day for about 5 years when I had tried it the first time and I want to say it took me about 3 days to get back up to speed. If you take the time, they're amazing.

I had been typing every day for about 5 years when I had tried it the first time and I want to say it took me about 3 days to get back up to speed. If you take the time, they’re amazing.

Hi guys, I couldn't find a general email box to leave some kudos for you.

I've been listening for the last month or so, catching up on the archives. You guys are such an inspiration that I decided to take advantage of the health insurance discount my company offers for exercising a certain amount of times a month. I never felt like it was worthwhile before.

I wanted to mention http://caloriecount.about.com/ as a means to track calories and exercise. It offers more flexibility than some of the other programs / websites you've mentioned. I've had my best results when I've done both aspects here - logging exercise and food.

Thanks for the casts.

Hey Jay,

Just upgraded my jailbroken 1st gen iphone to 2.0.2 and it froze up on me during the restore. Took me about 2 hours to figure out how to get it back. Pretty scary. (but would have given me an excuse to upgrade to 3g)

Anyway, I'm looking forward to your reviews on some fitness apps. I haven't gotten around to checking any out myself.

Keep up the good work.

Big Congrats Guys!
I like the one comment from the guy talking about how Forbes is just not 'with-it' anymore...
Quote: "Whoaaah - that extreme broccoli! Wow - put that asparagus down before someone gets hurt."
That's funny, but also, very true. I don't think this is just Forbes, I think the whole country is out of touch with what healthy food is.

Hows the Ped working out for you?

Does it seem accurate? I might start requiring clients to wear these and having them bring in detailed reports each week.

You've earned these nights out.

There's no need to be a hermit on the weekend, but before heading out, decide on the limits of your eating and drinking. Keep to these and you'll maintain your fitness when you resume the routine above on Monday!!

I have one as well and had to stop using it. The noise it made sounded like my robotic knee needed oil. Very distracting. People kept looking at me trying to find where the noise was coming from.

The occasional "leftover" drop off of cookies/cake/whatever that seems to show up around birthdays. I'm in a 24-7-365 organization so there's no telling when something tasty and evil will show up.
There are also a lot of vending machines. An awful lot of them.
Mostly what I apply is will power. Sometimes it doesn't work. I keep my some healthy foods on hand for myself so I'm not hungry when the snacks come around. The best thing I've done for myself, when I do lapse, is eat a few bites, put it down and get on with my day. I found that worrying about having indulged makes me feel worse.

Hey guys, I have a few travel tips for ya that I use every time I'm away from home.

Its tough to get 5 or 6 meals in so heres a few healthy alternatives to junk food that don't need to be refrigerated.

Nuts (I love wasabi almonds)

Natural Peanut Butter on some kind of fruit you can carry. Bananas, apples, pears. I have weird taste so it works for me.

Beef Jerky. Its a great source of lean protein without the carbs.

I know its these aren't glamorous but they get the job done.

I use the SIGG "Vintage Bottle" without the logo. I like using it, but it kinda looks like a flask. I get stared at from time to time...people thinkin' I'm hittin' the juice. :)

Great question. It's nice to see people moving during the work day. I'm a bit crazy. I have weights in my studio, so I do ten sets of ten reps (one set per hour) Monday through Friday. I break up my body parts. For example, Monday: biceps and back, Tuesday: legs, Wednesday: Shoulders, chest and triceps, repeat. I only do legs, regardless of my rotation, once during he work week. I do a long run or bike on the weekend for a second leg day. Sundays off.

The ten of ten keeps me from sweating too much in my "work" clothes. Since I do have to meet guests and sponsors, I can't sweat too much. Oh. I do my cardio in the mornings before going in to the studio.

Great show Jason and Steven. Keep it up. :)

There are quite a few things to avoid at my work place and I admit I don't do a very good job of avoiding them some days.

We have an open kitchen, with grocery orders that get delivered twice a week. Many sandwich, cereal, soup, cookie, cracker, fruit, vegetable, soda, juice etc options to choose from not to mention once a week breakfast gets made for the whole office and meetings that run during lunch and they order take out for us.... Oh yeah and the candy at the front desk.

Unfortunately I've only gained weight since starting instead of loosing. Though I'm trying to get a handle on it and remind myself of all the things I can eat vs what I shouldn't.

Man oh man, I have the same problem most of the time. I usually just decide to not have them all together but you need to carry that mindset before you set foot in the restaurant! Good to see you back! Keep up the great work!

Gentlemen-
Thanks so very much for bringing this show to life. In just a couple of short weeks this has become one of my top favorite shows.
This episode in particular really struck me. A couple years ago I dropped a significant amount of weight. Over the last year I've watched as much of it came back to me.
Most of the problem has been dietary, which is harder for me to control than keeping a workout regime going.
My non-professional understanding, gleaned from lots of reading, is that the majority of weight control comes from dietary choices. I’m still working to find a consistent method I can stick with to get a better handle on eating choices.

Keep up the great job gentlemen.

Hi Jason and Steve
I've been doing the stairs at work as much as I can. As I work second shift the gym is not available (it closes at 5) to 2nd and 3rd shifters. I am toying with the idea of walking laps in the basement, but safety issues come to mind late at night with no one around in that area.

Hi Jason and Steven,
Currently, I workout at our corporate gym in the morning before work. As I am doing strength 3 days a week I can miss a day if I need to and make it up the next. But, I am transitioning to a new job that involves travel, so i will need to devise new strategies to get the job done. One thing I did find was AirportGyms.com. If you are stuck at the airport for a few hours, this site lists gyms in or near the airport you can use. Still looking...

Working out is tough. When I'm over here in Iraq my workout consists of walking to work, the chow hall a couple times during the day and walking home. I live about a mile from where I work, so it's not like I'm getting a lot of exercise, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

Perhaps a 3 day a week regiment would be better. You get a little reward for going, but know you have to go again the next day.

The above comment is correct weight walking or weight vests are more designed for performance increase not weight reduction. You could do what they say above or maybe try walking a bit faster.

Adding weight/resistance training to your routine is better for you than walking with weights...a lot of unnecessary stress on joints and ligaments. But, if you want to walk weighted, try a weighted vest like this one: http://tinyurl.com/25kkkq

I know it's not ideal. Just my .02. :)

Great tip to use a plate. It is so easy to get stuffed, without realizing how much you have taken in, with all those little bites and bits. Another good idea is to have a salad or something else that is filling before you go to such an event. If you are not starving when you arrive, you will be less likely to over eat.

Hey guys, good show! I checked out mapmywalk.com and found it really useful. I wasn't exactly sure how long my usual walk route was, but with the help of that tool, it showed me that my mileage assumptions were correct! Thanks for the name drop as well (yes, it's pronounced like "Ellie", Elli is just the German form ;)) You liking the Coke Zero? Another good one is Sierra Mist Free if you haven't tried it. It tastest EXACTLY like Sierra Mist/7-UP. Good stuff!

Hey guys -

Thank you very much for the constructive review. We've been spending a lot of time brainstorming ways to make user interaction easier, and I'm confident you'll like the improvements when we roll them out.

Steve: some of the problems you experienced are because currently exercises are categorized three ways on gimme20.com. You are able to track by time, by distance, or by weight/sets/reps. Perhaps it would make more sense, to combine distance and time into a single type?

Thanks for all the feedback gentlemen.

Kind Regards,

J

Woot Chrystal! It's good to have you in the Ranks of Teh Awesome (TM). The URL you dropped in there is just for you while you're logged in. If you want us to be able to see it, you either have to share the page with one or both of us or make it public (at the bottom). If you just want to share, my registered email is sklassen@gmail.com there.

I found you at Podcast clicks and have been listening to your podcasts this morning (well its morning here in the UK at least!). I love them. I run a new podcast directory that focuses on personal development only and it would be great if you could include them. The site is http://www.personalgrowthpodcastdirectory.com </a> and I would happily provide you with a free feed too so you appear on the front page.

Keep up the great work, and the podcasts!

More grapefruit cutting fun can be found via Pampered Chef. I either won this or it was part of my kit when I was a consultant but it's really handy for when I do eat grapefruit. However it is Really Sharp. But apparently they don't sell them anymore, I did find a few on <a href="http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?from=R40&satitle=pampered+chef+grapefruit+knife" rel="nofollow">ebay</a>. One side has a curved blade for seperating it from the skin and the other side double blade that's a little offset to seperate the wedges. It's pretty handy really.

I found you guys about a month ago via traineo. :) Love the podcasts!

I run a site (<a href="http://www.mapmyrun.com" title="Map Runs with MapMyRun.com" rel="nofollow">www.mapmyrun.com</a>) very similar to gmap-pedometer where you can do a little bit more like calculate workout stats like calories and pace, you can download your route to GoogleEarth, you can also easily share your routes with friends, family, and training partners! If you like a straight-forward, no frills interface then Gmap-Pedometer then great!

Hope your fitness goals are on track. Your reader/listenership might also be interested to know about <a href="http://www.bitness.com" rel="nofollow">bitness.com</a>. I know you are aware of the site, but I invite you to keep checking back and linking to the site to check out product reviews (usually fitness gadget-oriented), workout ideas and general musings.

We have a lot of new content coming on line I think you'll enjoy.

Just wanted to say hi and let you guys know that a few improvements have been made to SparkTeams so that you can create a unique url (from the edit page) you can tell people to visit http://teams.sparkpeople.com/geekfit once you create it. Also, you can back to your site from the main group image (you can do this while visiting your team page while logged in as an admin).

Thanks,

If you want to lessen the cook time for chicken, throw your peices in the nuker for a few minutes (depending on how thick the chicken is). This will cook the chicken from the inside out so I do it for any chicken recipe so i'm guaranteed that the inside of the chicken is cooked properly. I found nuking your chicken prior to putting it in the skillet makes it juicier. Just a suggestion to those who don't have as much time to cook this normally.

Got this from slashfood.com

For anyone who is watching their calories in the new year, you may want to pass on this dessert. Claim Jumper doesn't offer the nutritional information for most of their foods, but they sell a 5-ounce version of their chocolate motherlode cake. Since the real thing is almost 10 times the size of the frozen one, assuming that they have the same or a similar recipe, a restaurant-sized slice of this dessert will have well over 4000 calories.

Hey Guys,
We had a whole hour that was worthwhile listening to? Sounds great. The pastor at my church especially liked the part where I mention drinking and doing a podcast and the part where I mention my nipples. He was one of the two listening live at 10 am along with Jason's wife. I guess it wasn't the children I needed to worry about. I had a blast recording with you guys.
Thanks,
Russ

Greetings! I am Biffster from <a href="http://weightjournal.com">www.weightjournal.com</a>! I found your podcast about a month-and-a-half ago or so. I've been listening ever since. You have a very good podcast going on here! Keep up the great work.

I had a couple of notes about the last episode I listened to (this one):

# Favorite inspirational quotes that keep the weight loss groove going.
You probably had someone correct you on this already, but the "a journey of 1000 miles..." quote is not Confucious, it is Lao-Tzu. Anyone who has studied Taoism/Daoism sat up and said, "oh no he didn't..." :) (Specifically, this is from the Tao Te Ching, chapter 64a.)

# Playing DDR and possibly getting a digital recording.
For DDR, have you looked into getting a Playstation 2 or a Nintendo Gamecube? We have a Gamecube with DDR: Mario Mix, and it is great. The only thing better than getting exercise via a video game is getting exercise via a Super Mario Bros. game! :)

I meant to send an audio comment, but was too slow. I might do so for your next episode, though.

Cheers!

I bought a hybrid bike when I hit my halfway mark. You're right, it's a cross between a street bike and a mountain bike and you can sit upright. Mine also has a squishy seat with shock absorption. Mine is a Raleigh and it looks like a mountian bike. Go for it! I love mine.

[...] Steve and I recorded a new episode of GeekFit last night and I think it went pretty well. I was having some computer problems that I still need to sort out before the next show. We record what is known as a “double ender” where I record my side live into the editing software and Steve records into an iRiver. When we are done Steve sends me the resulting mp3 file which just contains his side of the conversation. [...]

Addressed to "Wilma Dikfit."

I always wonder why people feel it's necessary to criticise someone for no apparent reason.

Steve has been working his ass off, literally, and most definitely has "made a dent." He's lost a lot of weight, and it shows. He's able to do things now that he hasn't been able to do for years.

Jason is anything but lazy. He works hard at everything he does. He may not be an expert, but he's learning the ropes as he goes along.

These 2 guys never said they know it all. If you actually paid any attention to what they've said, you'd know they're the first ones to point out that they are learning right along with the rest of us. Steve and Jason speak about what works for them in hopes that someone might be inspired to become active and find what works for them.

So, Wilma, next time you decide to push that "send comment" button, use that brain in your head to think about what you're motive for commenting is. You posted that comment in hopes of being deletrious, but it's all for naught. These guys have strong personalities and aren't going to be imjured by your sorry attempt at making them feel less than.

I love your program, cause Steve is like the HUGE fat guy who has lost a lot but hasn't really made a dent, and Jason is like the guy who isn't that fat but is really LAZY and doesn't know anything about exercise even though he is hosting an exercise program. It's awesome, keep up the good work!!!

Hi, I found you guys over at lj (maybe in the dietingsupport community?) Nice podcast. I'm so with you on the people who don't wear enough clothing to the gym! I noticed that one of the links above is incorrect: perhaps "EverythingGeek.tv" should be EverythingFit.tv?

This site is worth mentioning. It's a free site for anyone looking for a way to track cardio, calories, set up a fitness profile and get some support. I really love sparkpeople.

Hi, great podcast. I love the mix you seem to be aiming for now that your first 'introduction' podcast is done - of general chat about your respective weightloss journeys, together with the introduction of actual facts and information. ;) I love hearing you guys just talking, and am looking forward to hearing more.

I'd be interested hearing what keeps you both motivated - I mean, you talk about going to the gym first thing, for example, but surely some days it takes a little something extra to get you out of bed??

[...] A few days ago Jason and I put out the first podcast for geekfit.com. It was a mixture of who we are, how we’re doing a podcast together while we’re 1000 miles apart (okay, maybe only 991 miles), and what geek fitness is all about. Aside from some post-production issues that made Jason sound like he recording in a small gas station bathroom it went pretty well. [...]
